Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an EPG Service Manager within our New York Office. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful candidate will be accountable for the management of the EPG department, the servicing of standby generators including the mechanical service, planning and executing projects, providing technical expertise, mentorship and leadership to junior team members, preparation and monitoring of processes for successful execution of projects and assisting in maintaining client relationships and developing new business in New York and supporting growth throughout the United States.

Accountabilities

  • Planning, execution and management of EPG projects

  • Work with and coordinate services with specialty sub contractors and vendors

  • Work independently with minimal daily supervision

  • Work with office staff to ensure invoicing packages are complete and ready to send in a timely manner

  • Work with office staff to review job costing reports and WIP reports

  • Review and execute EPG contracts with a focus on efficiency and performance

  • Identify, source and stock parts and materials necessary to successfully execute EPG projects

  • Ensure safe work processes are executed with each job and a culture of safety is fostered

  • Ensure completion of technical reports and follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and completeness of work

  • Ability to interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner

  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers

  • Identify and implement process improvements

  • Facilitate the growth of generator service team (identify candidates, support recruiting)

  • Mentor new employees and identify areas for improvement/ devlopment

  • Work closely with Regional Operations Manager to formulate business plans and identify new clients.

  • Attend site visits and client meetings

  • Various other duties as required

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as an EPG Technician

  • 5+ years experience in the back­up generator industry or a transferable industry

  • Electrical /Power Systems experience an asset

  • EGSA certification an asset

  • NETA/ NICET certification an asset

  • Thorough understanding of NFPA 70E standards and practices

  • Understanding of NFPA 70B an asset

  • Thorough understanding of wiring diagrams and schematics

  • CAT, Cummins, Kohler, Detroit – MTU experience required

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in a professional manner

  • Experience in project management required

  • Operational experience required

  • Proficiency in gas/ diesel industrial engine fuel systems and controls required

  • Proficiency in the theory, operation and maintenance of automatic transfer switches and control logic required

  • Proficiency in practices required in industrial, utility and commercial environments required

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate and develop a team to achieve results

  • Proven ability to proactively and effectively communicate with various cross functional stakeholders to achieve operational excellence

  • Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment and prioritize workload through outstanding organizational skills

  • Excellent time management skills with an attention to detail

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Dedicated to providing exceptional client experiences to our internal and external clients

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with highly developed relationship management skills to interact with various levels within the organization

  • Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications

  • Proven commitment to safety

  • Must have a valid drivers’ license

  • The ability to travel and work flexible shifts, which include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays

  • A positive, “can-do” attitude, is highly self-motivated, energetic, passionate and reliable
